If you are heading south-east you will inevitably come across the Alpilles! In the heart of Provence, go to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (and its market which is as well-known as the Uzès market), then stop at the Glanum archaeological site (site-glanum.fr) on the Baux-de-Provence road, where you can also visit the Carrières de Lumières exhibitions. In Eyguières, a visit to the Jardin de l’Alchimiste (Mas de la Brune) will immerge you in a remarkable garden with both labyrinth and alchemists’ plants!
Either on your way there or on your way back, stop at Tarascon and its impressive fortified castle on the Rhône.
