Montaren

After arriving at the tour Sarrazine, take time to walk around the village. Of Roman origin, Montaren is located 4 km to the east of Uzès (town of art and history) and is similar in numerous ways to its prestigious neighbour, starting with the urban design and organisation of the former centre round the fort and its villages beyond the circulade. Montaren’s originality and beauty are hidden in the many small corners that are still preserved: wells and fort alleys, small temple gardens…

The attractions of this Commune of 1500 inhabitants are many: it is very near to Uzès but still preserved and authentic, and the village has several shops (grocery, bakery, hairdresser’s and café) as well as an excellent restaurant, La Table2Julien (only open at lunchtimes).

There are many walks possible leaving from the tower and some people who know the area well have even said that here there is a different walk for each day of your life!

Finally, you will also enjoy the village’s peace and quiet, only disturbed by the singing of scops owls at nightfall 😉
